Mammals

Living creatures other than plants can change positions.
In this way they bring more story into an image. After all, a painting remains a simple 2D image without movement. There is always a suggestion of movement. Even if the characters seem to be frozen. And again, to me the characters are the ideal objects to take a position where they catch parts of the light. Or in the case of a painting: a part of the illusion of light.

The lion statue and the bird are exceptions in this serie of mammals. But they play the same role.
The lion isn't expected to go take a walk off course. But i reproduced more vivid than the original.
The original is located in front off the townhall of Sint-Niklaas (Belgium).
The jester painting was produced in 2014. The rest in 2015 and 2016.
I guess it doesn't show, but Balthus is in any and a lot of ways a big inspiration while painting.
So now you know.
