Something

As André Klukhuhn wrote (and nailed it) in his book "light", painting is (or should be) about catching light in a 2D form, so that the viewer gets an illusion of space. Like music should do, it's intended to give the "consumer" a feeling of what his/her place in the universe is or may be.
Abstract painting is not involved in this definition. Abstract painting is only about a feeling and may differ from individual to individual. In other words, it is always elusive. And it should be in any way. Symbols and recognizable forms ought to be avoided in every way in an abstract painting.
If the painter himself cannot decide, he (or she) should stick to occupational therapy.
