Now and then you need to explore the world of painting as a painter.
This means that as producer of paintings (and this goes for all disciplins) you should try things out your own territory. The original painting by Vermeer i consider as one of the best paintings ever made.
Off course i am not going to even try to compete with Vermeer. One of the things i realise while doing this copy is that it is not at all my cup off teatalking about the content and te set up.
The original is about 60*80. Just like my painting that holds only a part of the original. I zoomed in on the girl only. I made a very loose based copy (only for that part of the original composition).
On purpose i wanted to create a young woman out of my mind. She wasn't going to be very beautiful. But as well not the opposite. In doing so i couldn't creaye but a kind of mona lisa which draws no attention but represents a timeless creature. The dress ,also invented purely by imagination is of an old style , because they are much more architectural than modern cloths.
A realistic looking image created out of immagination (100%) is a big challenge.
I needed at least 20 nose corrections to achieve my goal.
